WHY DEB McDERMOTT MATTERS

Dear Editor,
 
Twenty-six years ago my wife Gwynne and I started the annual Sea Cliff to Montauk camping trip. Over the years literally thousands of young, Sea Cliff residents have shared in this remarkable experience. This past summer, sensing it was time to find someone capable of relieving us of this demanding responsibility Deb McDermott, along with her husband Dan, readily volunteered and now the tradition will continue on for many more years to come.  
 
Deb McDermott is the perfect example of what makes Sea Cliff the kind of place that people move here and raise families.  She's passionate and celebrates the little things about our village that we too often take for granted.  She's been concerned and directly involved with the welfare of our local environment, our education system and favors a more open dialogue about the future of our village government.
 
Aside from being a loving mother and wife, she's smart and informed--no doubt a result of her fourteen years of financial and managerial experience in the private sector. And she can be tough...very tough--no doubt a result from all the hard work it took in her college years where she attained the status of NCAA all-American as a swimmer and diver.   
 
Tough, sweet, intelligent, approachable and most of all concerned about what's best for our village I'm voting for Deb McDermott for Sea Cliff Village Trustee.
