SEA CLIFF LIBRARY HOSTS MEET THE AUTHOR EVENT WITH LOCAL NOVELIST MICHAEL SEARS
November 17 -- This past Thursday evening, mystery-thriller author Michael Sears was at the Sea Cliff Library to discuss his recently published novel Mortal Bonds. The book is a follow-up to his bestselling debut, Black Fridays.
Mr. Sears, a Sea Cliff resident, who spent 22 years as a bond trader, retired a few years ago to pursue writing. And while he no longer regularly commutes to Manhattan, Wall Street is still on his mind, as the financial industry is central to his two Jason Stafford novels.
Stafford, a former securities trader who served a prison term for financial fraud, is back in the financial district as an investigator. In both novels, Mr. Sears tells not only the story of Stafford's efforts to uncover corruption, but also of his relationship with his 5-year-old autistic son, and his emotionally unstable ex-wife. In Mortal Bonds he is hired to locate billions of dollars of missing money by the family of a Ponzi scheme operator who has died in prison.
Mr. Sears said that the third installment of the Jason Stafford series has been written and delivered to his editor.
