99 YEARS AND STILL GOING STRONG, THE SEA CLIFF LIBRARY CELEBRATES ITS ANNIVERSARY WITH A TRADITIONAL MAY DAY RITUALCelebrating the 99th anniversary of the opening of the Stenson Library building on Sea Cliff Avenue, local children, in a ritual far more common in the early 20th century than today, danced and wrapped streamers around a Maypole this past Tuesday afternoon in front of the building that once housed the main library, and that is now home to the Children's branch. The springtime tradition central to May Day celebrations, would have been very familiar to those who attended the strawberry festival that marked the opening of the first Sea Cliff public library in June, 1891. Tuesday's event was organized by Sea Cliff Children's Librarian and Civic Association President Ann Dipietro, who remarked, "May we have another 99 years!"
