JOANNA COMMANDER FOR NS SCHOOL BOARDReceived from Maria Aughavin
May 6, 2014 Dear Editor, It’s that time of year again. The North Shore residents will be asked to vote on the annual school budget and elect two new trustees for our Board. The residents at North Shore are very lucky this year, as we have three very strong candidates that each bring a unique voice to our present Board. Our current Board trustees represent the various towns within the district and bring educational, artistic and legal experience to the Board. However, the one area that I feel has not been adequately represented is the athletic program at North Shore. We have an opportunity this year for the athletics to be heard if we vote for JOANNA COMMANDER. Joanna Commander’s experience includes teaching, coaching, athletic director (Lynbrook, Harborfields and Roslyn school districts) and is presently a retired resident living in Glen Head. Joanna understands the value of athletics for the student athletes and with increasing budget pressures, I like knowing that there is a voice on the Board that truly understands the value of athletic programs in a community and will fight for the athletic programs within North Shore. I have had the pleasure of working with Joanna on the North Shore Athletic Booster Club for the last several years, and she was always a diligent worker and model citizen and put the community at her forefront. She is truly what she notes on her banners, she is fair and honest and comes to us with a wealth of experience. Please help me get Joanna elected to the North Shore Board. I know Joanna will work hard for the students and residents of North Shore. Joanna will work with ALL the members of our Board to ensure the most fiscally responsible programs and budgets are presented to the residents of North Shore. Sincerely, Maria Aughavin |
