WHAT IS WRONG WITH SEA CLIFF?
Received from Robin Kennedy, Sea Cliff
March 13, 2018 To the Editor: Last year a group of people who claim to love Sea Cliff and want to keep it great formed a group called Sea Cliff Open Government Party. Their platform is transparency, participation & collaboration. What puzzles me is how they think Sea Cliff became the beautiful, non pretentious village that it is. We are people who live together peacefully and work together to maintain a feeling of community and calm. Our village has many boards which consist of volunteers who spend endless hours to make sure the residents are happy and safe. Any person who wants to be involved is always welcome to participate, to sit in on the meetings, to voice their opinions, and if is their desire to get more involved, it is always encouraged. The Board of Trustees is made up of people who have served on other Village boards and/or committees prior to becoming a trustee. This is to ensure that they have the knowledge to take on the job, the demeanor to be able to work with others collaboratively as well as proven their commitment to the hours of personal time it will take to effectively lead. Kevin McGilloway served on the Zoning Board of Appeals for eight years before becoming a trustee and is presently Deputy Mayor; chairing the Technology Task Force as well as taking the lead in regard to the subdivision moratorium. Henriette Rohl is currently on the Environmental Conservation Commission, the Traffic & Safety Committees and president of the Flutterby Foundation Inc. SCOG claims that they are offering a choice. It is my belief that all they are trying to do is create division and dissension in what they admit was an idyllic community when they arrived. We have always had a choice and we must choose wisely to preserve all that we love in Sea Cliff. Please get out to vote for Kevin McGilloway, Henriette Rohl, and Charlie Parisi on March 20th. They have the experience, the humility, the knowledge and the desire to work hard to keep Sea Cliff the enchanted community we have established. Robin Kennedy |
