LETTERS
WORKING TOWARDS A MORE RESPONSIVE GOVERNMENT
Received from Mayor Edward Lieberman, Sea Cliff
March 11, 2017 To the Editor: To address the recent transition wherein I was selected as Mayor, I am setting forth the statement I publicly read on December 12th and which has been posted on our village's website. I do this to again set forth the factors that the Board of Trustees considered at that time. But in a larger sense, I want to emphasize that, as your Mayor, I will always endeavor to continuously listen to your concerns and various points of view. The lesson of the public's views and those views' value is acknowledged. It is always our goal to listen to your concerns and be better from it. To this end, I have initiated several new programs and procedures in furtherance of a more responsive government for the common good. I am sending a welcome letter to our new residents directing them to our Village website; the website is continuously being updated directing the user to our many Village resources; a Task Force is being formulated to address technology techniques that the Village can utilize in undertaking better communication between government and our residents; the establishment of a Trustee Liaison position responsible for coordinating the various Village youth groups and programs, as well as working closely with the North Shore School District, in addressing the important issues concerning our youth; and, establishing a program where your public officials will be visiting residents in their neighborhoods to discuss particular issues. These initiatives, as well as additional programs, will be utilized in our commitment to be more responsive to our residents. It is my fervent hope that we, as a Village, will stand together for the betterment of our common good. Together, let us realize our common vision for the Sea Cliff we all love. Edward L.
