IN SUPPORT OF LARA GONZALEZ FOR NORTH SHORE SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATIONReceived From Tracy Mastakouris
May 10, 2014 To the Editor: I am writing to strongly recommend Lara Gonzalez for the North Shore School District Board of Education. For twelve years I have had the pleasure of being close friends with Lara. Our sons were in the same kindergarten class in Sea Cliff Elementary. Lara and I have the sweetest memories from that time period. Countless memorable school events, barbeques and soccer games later, we are very happy to have the Gonzalez family in our lives. Lara has always impressed me with her intellect, prudence and tolerance. As the mother of three beautiful children, she is and will remain deeply invested in the success of our schools. Given her experience as an educator and administrator, I frequently sought her advice pertaining to education. When my son was in 8th grade, I spoke to Lara about public versus private education. It was her strong advocacy for public education that helped me guide my son. He remained at North Shore and it was the best decision we could have made for him. We could not be more grateful for his experience at North Shore High School; without Lara’s wise counsel, I am not sure that my son would be as successful and happy as he is now. As a friend of Lara’s I can also tell you that she has tremendous respect and admiration for people of different cultural backgrounds. She is fluent in Spanish and has also lived and taught in Japan. She loves to travel and truly celebrates all cultures. She was an instrumental voice each year at our Sea Cliff International Night. As a board member, she will bring this sensitivity to all issues. Lara is uniquely qualified to serve our community on the Board of Education. Her vast experience as a teacher and administrator in multiple school systems gives her a clear advantage. We would be fortunate to have a board member with her intellect and skill set. Sincerely, Tracy Mastakouris, Sea Cliff BACK TO HOME PAGE |
