TRUSTEE ENDORSES COMMANDER FOR NORTH SHORE BOEReceived from Lara Gonazalez, Sea Cliff
May 6, 2017 Dear Residents of the North Shore Central School District, It is my pleasure to write this letter of support for my fellow trustee, Joanna Commander. Ms. Commander and I met as competitors three years ago on the campaign trail during the May 2014 school board election. Upon being elected to the school board, our relationship quickly changed from a competitive to collaborative one. During our first term in office, as educators we have found much common ground. Throughout the past three years on the school board, Ms. Commander has remained steadfast in her commitment to ensure that North Shore Schools uphold its stated mission to holistically address the needs of each child in our district. She has insisted that our schools continue to focus on our youngsters’ social and emotional needs as well as their academic lives. As trustee, Ms. Commander has leveraged her three decades plus of teaching, coaching, and leading in various public school settings across Long Island to advocate for all students in North Shore. In addition to our regular meetings, I have worked with her on the Board of Education’s policy and special education sub-committees and can attest to her passion and dedication. Ms. Commander has made many contributions to our district; her most significant role has undoubtedly been her leadership in coordinating the North Shore Coalition Against Substance Abuse and focusing our community’s attention on substance abuse and treatment for our young people. I urge you to re-elect Joanna Commander for trustee of the North Shore Central School District. Sincerely, Lara Gonzalez Sea Cliff BACK TO WEEKLY |
