CHERYL BROWN FOR BOE TRUSTEE
Received from Jen Lenney
May 7, 2017 To the Editor, As a parent, community member and educator, I ask you to support Cheryl Brown for Board of Ed Trustee. She is a strong advocate for public schools and she is dedicated to maintaining the quality of education for our children in the North Shore School District. She believes in a student-centered approach that is best for both the students and for the community as a whole. Although Cheryl believes that the 3-8 standardized tests are flawed and developmentally inappropriate, she also believes that it is every parent’s right to decide what is best for their child. Cheryl is keenly aware of how costly it is to live on Long Island. She knows that it is important to support our school district. However, she knows that we cannot over-burden our community with higher taxes. Cheryl has served on her district’s legislative committee for 3 years. Each year she has gone to Albany to meet with legislators to fight to receive our fair share of tax revenue, requesting that all mandates be fully funded, as well as, requesting that North Shore School District receive additional money this coming year due to the closing of the LIPA plant. I believe that Cheryl has a lot to offer the Board and the community by being a mom with children in the district, an educator, and an involved community member. On May 16th please join me in supporting Cheryl Brown for North Shore Board of Ed Trustee. Jen Lenney |
