August 25th was a warm sunny day when Principal Dr. Marc Ferris and Assistant Principal Rachel Green welcomed the incoming Sixth Grade Class of 2015-16 to North Shore Middle School. Close to 220 students were graciously greeted by the middle school administrators, faculty and staff and participated in an orientation. It was an exciting time for each of them as they met up with their old friends from elementary school and met new peers from the other two schools.
Principal Ferris prepared them for their first year of middle school by introducing them to teachers and staff as well as explained their team colors and schedules. Additionally, he reiterated the school slogan, Everyone Matters, Everyone Cares, Everyone Learns, and assured his students that, “North Shore Middle School is a place where everyone feels that they matter, where everyone takes the time to care about the individual needs of others, and where everyone feels safe and inspired to learn.”
During the orientation, seventh and eighth grade students were on hand to help the sixth graders take a tour of their classrooms, open their lockers, and participate in fun meet and greet games. Everyone enjoyed a delicious BBQ sponsored by the Middle School PTSO. We wish all of the six graders the best of luck!
