NSHS STUDENTS AND FACULTY PREPARE THANKSGIVING BASKETS FOR THOSE IN NEED
By Tristan Vitale
This year there was an overwhelming response to the joint effort on the part of Interact Club and the Community Service Office at North Shore High School to create Thanksgiving Baskets for the less fortunate of our area. Over 135 students, as well as faculty and staff took part in the project by donating all the ingredients for a Thanksgiving feast to make more than 25 complete baskets. Each basket also included a gift card to a local grocery store so that the recipient could purchase the perishable items needed.
Students from Interact joined Science teacher Seth Klein and Math teacher Christine Halloran in delivering 12 of the baskets to families in Glen Cove on Friday, November 21, and an additional 12 baskets were given to Harbor Day Care in Glen Head to be given to local families in need. The remaining baskets were donated to Mutual Concerns in Sea Cliff for their food pantry. The project made all who participated feel the true meaning of Thanksgiving.
