LARRY AARONS' "THE MYTHS OF MAN" OPENS AT GOLD COAST LIBRARY
On Sunday, October 6, the Gold Coast Library hosted an art show and opening reception for Glen Head artist Larry Aarons' exhibit of pastel portraits, "The Myths of Man."
Included in the exhibit are 14 portraits of both historical and mythological figures from Africa and ancient Greece and Rome. They include Zeus, Cleopatra, Apollo, Aphrodite, Alexander the Great, Caesar, and Soudan Man. Mr. Aarons uses strong contrasts of light and dark in his drawings - a method known as Chiaroscuro, which gives the figures a warmth and three-dimensionality that brings them to life. The exhibit also includes works in different stages of completion, allowing the viewer to see the process used by Mr. Aarons. The "Myths of Man" can be viewed at the Gold Coast Library Annex in Glen Head through October 31st. Mr. Aarons can also be commissioned to do pastel or graphite personal portraits of individuals and families. For more information, visit the artist's website at www.larryaaronsart.com. |
