SUNDAY'S GLEN HEAD FARMERS MARKET SHOWCASES THE VALUE OF SHOPPING LOCALLY

Despite threatening skies, the community turned out in full force throughout the day this past Sunday for the first annual Glen Head Farmers Market and Local Business Showcase.   The shop local event, sponsored by the Glen Head Glenwood Business Association and the First National Bank of Long Island, featured Rottkamp Brothers' farm of Old Brookville selling their fresh produce and Business Association members offering their wares for sale as well as information about the services and goods they provide.

The market, set up in the bank parking lot on Roosevelt Street and Glen Head Road, offered a great opportunity for many in the community to be introduced to the local shop owners and proprietors whose storefronts they may pass everyday, but have never ventured inside to see the wide assortment of goods and services that are offered right in their midst. 

"I'm excited about how the community banded together for this event," said Deborah Orgel-Gordon, a GHGWBA officer and Showcase organizer. "Many were able to learn about the Business Association and our great local businesses." Ms. Orgel-Gorden added that the Association was considering organizing a similar event this Spring.  

 Tucker Tongue, President of GHGWBA, clearly pleased with the turn out, declared the market "a huge success" and "a great community event we look forward to doing again."
