SNOWFLAKES A REMINDER THAT
November 8, 2014 -- A sure sign that the holiday shopping season has arrived, members of the Glen Head-Glenwood Business Association gathered this past Saturday at the Glen Head Community Center to repair and replace bulbs on dozens of snowflakes that will be hung from lamp-posts throughout the Glen Head-Glenwood business district through the start of the new year. The group hopes to have the ornaments brightening darkened skies and spreading holiday cheer by Thanksgiving.
The seasonal repair work and lighting of the snowflakes has now been a tradition for more than 30 years. All funding for the displays is provided through donations, and work is done exclusively by volunteers. Lending a hand on Saturday were Bill Manfredonia of A+ Graphics and Signs, Audrey and John Orozco of Uload-N-We-Go.com, Richard Greene, Marrily Glaviano of Gold Coast Library, Cathy Elorriaga of Northwordnews, Mickey Vergata of Glenwood Service Company, John Mulder - past Treasurer of the Business Association, Moe Yazdanfar of M&S Plan It, Howard Taub - Richard B Arnold Real Estate, Maryann E. Massari - Purple Table, Anne Gronan and Nancy Waage of The Glen Garden Club, Alby Gonzalez and Chris Vilchek of East Coast Waste Services, Steve Warshaw of Exit Realty, Angelo T. In addition, the group “strives to actively promote the civic interests, the general welfare and prosperity of the Greater Glen Head/Glenwood Area.” In the furtherance of these goals residents and local proprietors are encouraged to shop and eat local. The Association meets the third Wednesday of each month at 6 pm at the Glenwood American Legion Post on Glen Head Road. Through its monthly meetings the Association provides opportunities for local businessmen and women to network and attend educational workshops and presentations. The group's next meeting will be on November 19th. The group is not limited to Glen Head and Glenwood, but includes and welcomes business people from Sea Cliff and other surrounding areas. On December 17th, the group is holding its annual Christmas party, and all local businessmen and women are invited to attend. click here for more information The Glen Head/Glenwood Business association can contacted by e-mail at [email protected] or visit their Website ghgwba.com and Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ghgwba |
