![]() Glen Cove Youth Bureau Announces 2017 Summer Youth Employment Program
Dates Set for Summer Youth Employment Applications and Sign-up Meetings January 31, 2017, Glen Cove, NY…For over 30 years, the City of Glen Cove Youth Bureau has provided summer employment opportunities for Glen Cove residents between the ages 14-22 years old. Over that time frame the Youth Bureau has expanded their Summer Youth Employee Program (SYEP) into a dynamic three-tier job readiness/skills development initiative. The three tiers include the Green Team for teens ages 14-15, a Summer Internship program for 16-18 year olds and an Assistant and Supervisor program for program alumni up to 22 years of age. Summer Internship Program Meeting Scheduled For March 8 The Summer Internship Program is designed to provide Glen Cove youth (16-18 years old) with transferable skills through workshops and leadership activities that focus on resume writing, interview preparation and business etiquette. Training workshops are held two evenings a week during the months of March, April and May. Then eligible candidates can apply for summer internship positions with local business partners in June. Only 10 internship positions will be available and up to 20 trainees will be accepted. To learn more about the internship program students are invited to attend the SYEP Internship kick-off meeting on Wednesday March 8th at 7:00 pm at the Glen Cove Youth Center, 128B Glen Street (enter in the rear of the building). Teens must sign up to attend the meeting by March 1, 2017 by emailing to Jacki Yonick at [email protected] Green Team to Accept Applications Beginning May 1 For teens ages 14-15 year old there are summer Green Team positions are available and applications will be accepted via phone between May 1 and May 5, 2017.
