GLEN COVE YOUTH BUREAU SEEKS DONATIONS FOR THANKSGIVING FOOD BASKETS
By Cindy Rogers
Each year, the Glen Cove Youth Bureau collaborates with other social service agencies in Glen Cove to provide families in need with all the fixings for Thanksgiving dinner. Working together, the agencies provide dinner to over 350 families each year, approximately 100 of which originate with the Youth Bureau. This effort is only possible with the donations the Bureau receives from the public. Would you like to help with this project? The Youth Board is looking for donations of the following non-perishable items: canned vegetables (peas, beans, corn, sweet potatoes,), potatoes, stove-top stuffing, macaroni and cheese, cornbread mixes, cake mixes, icing, jello and fruit cocktail. The Bureau is also looking for gift certificates to local grocery stores and cash donations, the proceeds of which will be used to purchase turkeys and hams for the families. Checks should be made payable to “Friends of the Glen Cove Youth Board” and mailed to Glen Cove Youth Bureau, c/o Thanksgiving Food Drive, 128B Glen Street, Glen Cove, NY 11542. Non-perishable donations may be brought to the following locations: Glen Cove Youth Bureau (128 B Glen Street – behind 126 Glen Street), Glen Cove Public Library (near magazine area), Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce (264 Glen Street) or The Atria (146 Glen Street). If you would like to donate a frozen turkey or fresh vegetables/fruit (potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, apples, oranges), please bring your donation to the Youth Bureau during the week of November 17. Donations of non-perishables will be accepted until November 21. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Cindy Rogers at 671-4600 or email [email protected]. The Youth Bureau thanks you for your generosity. BACK TO WEEKLY BACK TO HOME PAGE |
