January 18, 2017, Glen Cove, NY…The Glen Cove Volunteer Fire Department (GCVFD) hosted their annual installation dinner recently at the city’s fire house. GCVFD Chief Philip Grella Jr., welcomed department members, their families and distinguished guests while Ex-Chief Michael J. Maher moderated the festivities. Mayor Reggie Spinello conducted the swearing in of the officers for each of the GCVFD’s four companies, the Fire Police Unit and the Rescue Squad. “I am proud of the work that each and every one of our members does to safeguard the Glen Cove community, said Chief Philip Grella Jr. “People often forget that our fire department members are all volunteers who each day put their lives on the line for the health and wellness of our residents,” said Mayor Reggie Spinello. “On behalf of the city, we give our heartfelt gratitude to each of you and your families and wish our officers and their companies continued success during your 180th Anniversary year.”
