GLEN HEAD - GLENWOOD BUSINESS ASSOCIATION LAUNCHES ITS 2014 MEMBERSHIP DRIVE![]() The Glen Head / Glenwood Business Association has launched its 2014 membership drive. Enrollment is not limited to Glen Head and Glenwood Landing, but is open to businesswomen and men from Sea Cliff and other surrounding areas.
The group seeks to enhance the health and profitability of local business by working towards creating a favorable business climate, and, according to its mission statement, "strives to actively promote the civic interests, the general welfare and prosperity of the Greater Glen Head/Glenwood Area.” The GHGWBA engages in many activities and provides services in the furtherance of these goals. It gives assistance in how to promote one's business on social media, and at its monthly meetings provides opportunities for local businessmen and women to network and attend educational workshops and presentations. In addition the group contributes to community beautification through a variety of efforts such as decking the business district with snowflake ornaments during the holiday season. For Memorial day, the group coordinates an “Adopt-a-Flag” program that enables community members and proprietors to sponsor the display of a flag in the local business district during the week preceding Memorial Day. Click here for more details Recognizing that a vibrant business district is beneficial to all in the community, the GHGWBA strongly encourages residents and local proprietors to shop and eat local. The Association meets the third Wednesday of each month at 6 pm at the American Legion Post on Glen Head Road. The next meeting will be on January 15th when the group will be welcoming Nassau County American Legion Commander Angelo I. ADOPT A FLAG FOR MEMORIAL DAYThe Glenwood Glen Head Business Association's Adopt-A-Flag campaign gives local residents and business owners the opportunity to sponsor the display of an American flag in the Glen Head - Glenwood Landing business district on Memorial Day and during the week preceding the federal holiday. In appreciation for participating, donors' names will be posted on the GHGWBA website, listed on a display in the American Legion Hall lobby, and be published in the Record Pilot and Northwordnews. Sponsorship is $60 and covers the cost of the flag. Checks should be mailed to the GHGWBA PO Box 251, Glen Head, 11545 or dropped off at Gem Craft Boutique at 58 Glen Head Road.
