Good evening, Happy end of Summer!!! Was way too short!
UPDATE ON SUNOCO/BANK PROPERTY: For those of you who could not attend the meeting with the First National Bank of LI, here is a brief update: The meeting was well attended by several Civic representatives and representatives from the Town of Oyster Bay. At this meeting we were shown the proposed lay out of a two floor office building that after permits and related building hurdles we will likely be looking at a finished building in a year. The Civics made several suggestions for the building design and the Bank representatives noted them. Going forward we asked the Bank to prepare a brief periodic update to be shared with the community and attached is the first one summarizing the meeting and the projected next steps. Thanks to the Bank representatives for taking time out to meet with the Civic reps.
HALMS INDUSTRY BUILDING: The Civics will be meeting with the property owner, his broker and two developers to discuss possibilities for the future of the property. We will keep everyone appraised of any new developments.
GH CENTER OF TOWN BEAUTIFICATION: The project is progressing nicely and quickly. The segment of the business areas has been bricked and sidewalks renovated, and now the project has moved to the GH Road area, specifically to the south side of the street where most of the sidewalks were in desperate need of renovation. The next phase, which will follow immediately after these sidewalks are completed will be the installation of antique lighting with fixtures for hanging plants and the replacement of the trees removed along the businesses on Glen Cove Ave. The Fischetti will be donating the replacement trees and we are advised they will be of much better quality than those removed. Please know that the removal of the trees was due to the major sidewalk repairs being performed as well as the installation of new lighting. The Town is monitoring the expenditures to ensure they maximize the number of improvements to the area, so we can expect a much clearer update on the phases that remain sometime soon. We are advised by the Town that most work will be completed by end of October as they aim to complete these outside construction improvements by then due to weather constraints.
COMPLETION OF IMPROVEMENTS ON THE GLEN HEAD LIRR STATION HOUSE: We are advised by the LIRR that the improvements to the outside of the station house, started last year will be completed this Fall. We will be monitoring the completion.
Lastly, please note that traffic will be challenging tomorrow morning, when school opens, by GH Road and the four corners, probably worse that during normal school opening hours, so make every attempt to leave extra time and find alternative streets to get to your school. Have a great school year!
Regards
