Good evening,
Just a couple of updates on some ongoing matters in the community:
* The Getty Gas station at the 4 corners of GH was issued a summons by the TOB Code Enforcement early January and the manager has began to clean up the place a little. I believe Code Enforcement will continue to monitor the place as it is in desperate need of some clean up. This information was passed along to the Civics by the TOB.
* The TOB also informed the Civics that the rug business in Glen Cove Avenue in GH has applied for a permit for a new sign and they are reviewing the request; the business we believe is open and the new sign is pending approval.
* The Bank received the Civics' request for a meeting and they have ignored the request. We have proceeded to contact the TOB who are the folks who approached us a year ago about the Bank purchasing the Sunoco property and we have asked them to obtain an update on the delays from the Bank. The Town contacted the Bank CEO who has stated that they are proceeding with the purchase, however, these processes take time and they have little news to share with the Civics at this time. We (the Civics) have stated to the town that this is unacceptable and the town has advised us that they would like to broker a meeting with the Civics and the Bank. The Town will approach the Bank next week to seek this meeting. Based on the success of the Town on arranging this meeting we will likely need to discuss alternatives steps shortly afterwards. We will keep everyone advised.
* Two Civics neighboring the American Legion in GH have expressed strong opposition to the installation of a cell pole antenna proposed to being erected at the AL property. The two Civics have met with AL representatives to present close to 200 neighbors' letters and 700 signatures gathered on a petition to let the AL know the community opposes the installation of the cell pole. The matter is under discussion.
Please let me know if there are any questions.
