Congratulations go out to the Vikings junior point guard Gabrielle Zaffiro of North Shore High School on earning several prestigious accolades this season. Gabby was selected to Newsday's All-Long Basketball First Team for the second time in her career and was the first North Shore athlete to earn the distinction as Newsday's Nassau County Player of the Year. Coach Keith Freund said, “In addition, the coaches of Nassau County selected Gabby as the Nassau County ABC Player of the Year. Once again she was the first North Shore athlete to receive this award. As a junior, she already holds many of North Shore's game and career records. This season, she scored a record 51 points against Summit Academy on December 18thand scored her 2,000th career point and hit her 200th career 3-Pointer on February 22nd.” In addition, Gabrielle Zaffiro was All-County for the fourth time and was selected to the Nassau County All-Tournament Team after helping the Vikings to the County Finals. Coach Freund concluded by saying, “A five-year starter, Gabby still has one more season left at the North Shore School District in which she hopes to help her team win a Long Island Championship.
