FIRST ANNUAL GLENWOOD LANDING SCHOOL STEAM NIGHT

The first annual Glenwood Landing School STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts Music) Night was celebrated on March 16, 2017. Much different from the past, it combined not only exciting student created STEAM projects in the gym, but added numerous teacher and parent-volunteer STEAM workshops in the classrooms, a Nature Nick presentation in the auditorium, a chance to see some of the diverse projects the students have been working on in the STEAM lab, a demonstration by the North Shore High School Robotics team, and an opportunity to build your own underwater robot led by the Viking Explorers (student club) of North Shore Middle School.
This interdisciplinary culmination was the first time students from the Viking Explorers at the middle school and the Robotics Team at the high school joined the children of Glenwood Landing during this special night of STEAM activities. Throughout the building, so many STEAM activities and workshops were available for everyone to participate in and enjoy.
In classrooms throughout Glenwood Landing School, the STEAM workshops included VaVa Boom- What Makes Volcanoes Go, the Keva Plank Challenge, The Great Tinfoil Challenge, Bristlebots –What Makes Your Bot Trot, Constructing Catapults, and Soap Making. They were led by teachers and parents in the community and lasted approximately 40 minutes. 
Glenwood Landing kindergartens through 5th grade students were asked to be accompanied by a parent to participate. Families with younger students or who didn’t have a ticket were encouraged to see the Nature Nick presentation in the auditorium and/or walk around the gym to appreciate the amazing STEAM projects created by the students of Glenwood Landing.
