EDWARD LIEBERMAN - Candidate for Mayor, Village of Sea Cliff
I am grateful to Northwordnews for the opportunity to present this statement to its readers on the occasion of our village's upcoming March 21 election.
I am currently serving as your mayor and, most respectfully, seek your vote of support so that I may continue in this fiduciary role for the next 2 years. I seek your endorsement in order to further provide every resident a claim to the vision that is our mutual love of Sea Cliff. I believe that being your mayor has placed me in a position where I am able to bring my professional experience and community service background to use for the betterment of our beloved Village. My professional education and experience as a criminal defense attorney has provided me a unique perspective in advocating on behalf of those whose rights and liberties are jeopardized. My everyday advocacy on behalf of the accused has given me a true understanding of our right to due process and the safeguards provided against governmental infringement. My years of community service through the Sea Cliff-Glen Head Lions Club have given me many opportunities to be involved in assisting and comforting those in need. To "aid the weak and right the wrong" is not merely our Lions slogan but rather a statement of purpose which provides the true meaning of service. Over the past years I have been fortunate to have served on various Village boards and committees as well as having served as an elected Village Trustee and the Deputy Mayor of Sea Cliff. The everyday experiences have been an integral part of my village resume. However, it has been the people that I have met, conferred and worked with, for a healthier Sea Cliff, that has provided the most rewarding experiences. Now, we must continue to utilize all of our backgrounds and experiences to further the virtues of our Village for our future generations. With this background I bring to you, the residents of Sea Cliff, my desire to continue to serve as your mayor. I do not seek this office for personal gain or public accolades but rather simply for the knowledge that working together, our Village, and by extension, all of us, will experience this special vision of the love for everything that is Sea Cliff.
