SEA CLIFF ARTS COUNCIL HOSTS ARTISTS SHOW CASE FEATURING LOCAL NEEDLEPOINT ARTIST AND SINGER/SONGWRITER
The Sea Cliff Arts Council hosted an Artists Showcase this past Wednesday evening at the Diresta Collective featuring two Sea Cliff residents - needlepoint artist Karen Kessler and singer/songwriter Cathy Rose.
Ms. Kessler, explained the craft of needlepoint, showing examples of her work as well as canvasses, needlepoint kits and accessories that she is offering for sale through her recently opened business Sea Cliff Stitchery, which is based out of the DiResta Collective on Sea Cliff Avenue. For children and adults interested in learning needlepoint, or honing their craft, Ms. Kessler will begin offering classes later this month, at both beginner and advanced levels. Ms. Rose, who sings professionally in various groups ranging from folk and jazz to classic rhythm and blues has written and recorded her own original material, releasing her first CD "Soul and Sky" in 2000, and more recently "The Walk" in 2011. During Wednesday's performance, Ms. Rose spoke of the importance of faith in her life and her music, and has for many years been ministering music in church and in prison. |
