To the Editor:
I would like to express my strong support for Deb McDermott’s candidacy for Sea Cliff Village Trustee. I did not know her before this, but I have met her now and listened to what she has to say. I have given a lot of deliberation to it and she will have my vote. It isn’t that I think anything is necessarily wrong with the day to day running of the Village. It is because I am concerned about the closed circle that our village government has become. I think we need other voices in the mix, as well as other skill sets. When we moved here, I was so impressed by the level of volunteerism in this village without expectations of any personal gain. I want to keep this spirit. I don’t want our village government to become a stepping stone for larger political aspirations, nor do I want to see a system of cronyism, and I believe we may be in danger of that at present. I urge Sea Cliff residents most of all to vote and participate in the process, and hope that while doing so you will support Deb McDermott for Trustee of the Village of Sea Cliff.
