SAYING THANK YOU TO OUR NORTH SHOREBOARD OF EDUCATION TRUSTEES
Received from Denise Reiner and Lisa Vizza, Co-Presidents of NSCCPA on October 10, 2017
The New York State School Boards Association recognizes October 23-27 as School Board Recognition Week. This is a time to promote awareness and understanding of the important work performed by school board members. The North Shore School District is joining all public school districts across the state to celebrate and honor its board members for their commitment to our community and its children.
It takes strong schools to build a strong community and with their commitment to public education, School Board members take on one of the most important citizen responsibilities: overseeing the education of the community’s youth while giving the community a voice in educational decision making. Serving on a local school board is no easy task, particularly in today’s climate of rapid change and financial uncertainties. They make the tough decisions every month and spend many hours studying education issues and regulations in order to provide the kind of accountability their citizens expect, on a volunteer basis without a stipend.
They help raise student achievement by:
Antoinette Labbate, President
Sara Jones, Vice President
Herman Berliner
Joanna Commander
Richard Galati
Dave Ludmar
Marianne M. Russo
Our children and community benefit every day from the hard work and long hours contributed by our trustees. We invite you to take a moment to tell school board members “Thank you, for all you do.” Please join the North Shore Coordinating Council of Parent Organizations in honoring our Board of Education trustees on Thursday, October 26th in the High School Library (450 Glen Cove Avenue, Glen Head) at 7:30 pm. We will have a brief ceremony and feature a musical performance by the North Shore Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Mr. Jason Domingo. Light refreshments baked with gratitude from our Middle School and High School students will be served and a special gift will be presented by our Elementary School students.
With Appreciation,
The North Shore Coordinating Council of Parent Organizations
