HATS OFF TO THE NORTH SHORE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATING CLASS OF 2017
June 27, 2017 -- The cloudy skies and the forecast for unceremonious weather this past Friday June 23 did not dampen the spirits of North Shore High School's 238 seniors clad in traditional maroon or white gowns, as a last minute change of venue moved the 2017 commencement exercises indoors to the gymnasium. Parents, friends, administrators, and families gathered there to watch the ceremony led by Principal Albert Cousins. Speakers included graduating Superintendent Dr. Edward Melnick, Valedictorian Kathryn Feehan, Salutatorian Donald Ahrens, and North Shore Board of Education President Toni Labbate.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Senior Class Presidents Vasilios Livanos and Griffin Genet followed by the National Anthem sung by Christopher Lau, accompanied by members of the North Shore High School Band conducted by Mr. David Soto.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the North Shore Alma Mater was led by Joseph Doyle. Many thanks go out to music teacher, David Soto, and the North High School Orchestra. Principal Cousins thanked all of the parents and their families and told his graduating seniors that he respected them and was very proud of their accomplishments. He stated that they had fulfilled all of the New York State High School requirements to graduate. Then he said, “Now throw your hats in the air!” Principal Cousins wished all of his seniors the best of luck in the future! Congratulations to the Class of 2017!
