CHILL OUT IN SEA CLIFF CELEBRATES COMMUNITY'S LOCAL CULTUREThe weather was appropriately cold and brisk, as the first ever “Chill Out in Sea Cliff” was held this past Friday evening. The celebration of the community’s local businesses, musicians, and artists kicked off at 5:30 pm in front of Musu Restaurant on Roslyn Avenue across from the Village Green, with a performance by local band the Lazy Dogs.
The crowd of all ages steadily grew larger and warmer as the hot apple cider, saki, and hot chocolate flowed freely, and events moved to the steps of the library, where musicians Andy Aledort and Chris Kinnear entertained, followed by the band Ride. In between acts, announcements were made honoring local individuals, groups and charities. (see separate articles) Several local businesses along Sea Cliff and Roslyn Avenues participated in the festivities, as they kept their doors open late for shopping or viewing art; and with restaurants and bars featuring special “Chill Out” offerings on their menus and hosting performances by local bands and musicians. “Chill Out in Sea Cliff” had been in the works for months as an effort to promote the community’s local businesses, musicians, and artists. Village Board Trustee Ed Lieberman and Kathleen DiResta, of the DiResta Collective on Sea Cliff Avenue, were instrumental in bringing it all together. |
