The Friends of Cedarmere announces Monthly Poets SeriesCedarmere, the historic home of Poet and Editor William Cullen Bryant (A Nassau County Park Property), will once again open its doors and grounds to language and poetry. The monthly Sunday series is presented by the non-profit Friends of Cedarmere. Produced and curated by poets Stefanie Lipsey and Liz Axelrod, the series will begin on Sunday, October 5 from 2-5pm.
The series invites many nationally recognized and award winning poets from Long Island and beyond to read works at the bucolic and inspirational Cedarmere estate. The inaugural session, hosted by Stefanie Lipsey, will feature the first Suffolk County Poet Laureate, George Wallace; CUNY Professor & Editor of 2 Bridges Review, George Guida; Award Winning Poet and Stonybrook Professor Julie Sheehan; and New School MFA Grad, accomplished reading series poet and host, Liz Axelrod. Upcoming dates include a William Cullen Bryant birthday reading on November 2, a holiday reading on December 7 and then the series will close for winter hiatus until spring. Spring dates are Sunday, March 8, April 12, May 17 and June 7. Spring themes will include a Rebirth & Renewal Reading in April, Poetry Festival in May, and a University reading in June.
