ARTS ANGELS SEEKS EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBERS FOR 2016-2017
North Shore Arts Angels, a non-profit organization that works to enhance arts education in the district’s five schools, invites community members interested in supporting its mission to join its board of directors.
Founded over a decade ago by parents who believe that high quality arts experiences are essential to the holistic development of children’s intellect, creativity and ability to interact with the every-changing world they are inheriting, this parent-run organization partners with the North Shore School’s Department of Fine & Performing Arts to provide funding to enrich the curriculum and support the purchase of state-of the-art equipment and supplies not covered by the school budget. A few members of the Board of Directors have been part of the organization since its inception. As their children depart for college and careers, they are recruiting like-minded individuals, with children in lower grades, to take over some of the leadership of this vital organization. A new and different generation of children is eagerly creating art in North Shore’s elementary and middle schools. What do parents of this new generation expect for their children’s arts experiences? How can the Arts Angels be responsible to the needs and ideas of this new generation? Who are the new parent leaders and where will they take the Arts Angels in the coming years? Assisted by a large and enthusiastic base of parent volunteers, Arts Angels pledges at least $10,000 per year to fund the arts, and has raised over $200,000 since 2007. Projects have included theater lighting equipment that students learn to program and operate; large band and orchestra instruments that allow students to perform in ensembles with rich lower bass sections, and artist-in-residency programs that provide opportunities for students to work with professional artists, musicians, dancers and actors. For a comprehensive list, visit www.northshoreartsangels.org Arts Angels maintains an excellent relationship with district administrators and faculty and hosts a comprehensive website. The board meets four times per year. Anyone interested in exploring how they can bring leadership and vision in support of the arts at North Shore Schools, please contact [email protected] so that we can include you in our annual re-organizational meeting which takes place at a mutually convenient date and time in early July. We look forward to hearing from you and having you join the leadership team of this creative and important parent organization. |
