NOW IS THE WINTER OF OUR DISCONTENT MADE GLORIOUS SUMMER BY THIS SILLY SHAKESPEARE COMPANY OF SEA CLIFF ON JUNE 11
This year’s local performance of The Silly Shakespeare Company, will open the beach performance season with its production of Richard The Nerd on June 11, 2016, at the Sea Cliff Beach Pavilion, at 7:00pm. Bring a beach chair or blanket for ya bum.
This year’s production is a re-written version of Shakespeare’s Richard The Third (a political play) with the concept that Richard, an evil man of power who is in line for the throne, uses his nerdy and conniving smarts to out play his political opponents until a horse fails to save him, recalling the famous line “A horse, a horse, a kingdom for a horse.” Sponsored by the Sea Cliff Civic Association, the tickets are FREE (“You people are so bloody cheap”). For over a decade, The Silly Shakespeare Company has presented original, abridged, user friendly versions of William Shakespeare’s works. The troupe’s mission is to expose community audiences to the beautiful words of Shakespeare while inserting comedic narration and modern culture into the one hour performances This year’s show features, the players Karin Barneby, Jeff Blinkoff, Ann DiPietro, Dan DiPietro, Jessica Donovan, Phil Essex, Roberta Fox, Peter Luftig, Marielle Genovesi, Carolyn Mazzu Genovesi, Lesley Pryde Hayley, Jane Ringrose, Elizabeth Sehring (writer/director), Phil Schiff (writer) and Rob Willgoose.
